Simply put, a "Shift Kit" is a registered trademark of Transgo Inc. for their line of transmission improvement products. Shift KitsŪ make changes to the transmission to improve shift feel, durability, general operation, and torque capacity. A Shift KitŪ will not make your transmission indestructible, nor will it save a unit that's on it's last legs. However, it will help your transmission to last longer and work better. Shift Kits aid towing by boosting clutch holding power, and by giving the driver improved control over the manual ranges of the transmission. Transgo offers two separate lines of kits which allows us to tailor the transmission to fit your needs. The first line, the "SK" or "Junior" kits, are what we install in every transmission we build. The Junior kits correct problems in the transmission and improve shift feel. They do not result in excessively hard or firm shifts. The second line, the "HD" kits, are what we install in heavy duty or high performance applications. These Kits do the most to improve transmission life and capacity, and can also be set up for the crisp, firm shifts many desire.
